12 Nov BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE GLOBEMAKERS IN LONDON

I was first introduced to the story of Bellerby & Co – The Globe Makers after meeting them at the Instagram Christmas party last year. I’ve been following their beautifully curated feed ever since… where they share the process of creating these exquisite hand made globes, with photos of their studio and facts about countries I can only dream of going to.

So when I was invited back in August to an open house visit, I jumped at the chance.
As I climbed the stairs up to their studio it was like entering a very special treasure trove.

Workspaces full of globes at various stages of completion, from the first layers being applied to the painting of details all done by hand.

We were shown the process and allowed to wander around the studio space…

There’s something so beautiful about witnessing other people’s work in progress… I love this sketchbook with notes and colour washes from each project… and the stained cloth of countless dabs with a paint brush.

It was such a memorable afternoon… Thank you so much to The Globe Makers for sharing this beautiful secret.
