01 Nov NOVEMBER – LET’S DO THIS #NAPHOPOMO
I started this blog as an extension of the photos I was sharing on Flickr at the time – Flickr was an amazing community back in 2009/10… supportive and educational. It was the start of my online life… those were really special times.
So my blog was born. A place to share my collections of photos, musings and films. It’s been a place I call my own, posting when and what I feel like. It’s helped grow my businesses and given me the opportunity to connect with so many amazing people.
But it’s been a bit neglected lately – mainly because it’s a little broken behind the scenes…. putting posts together takes too long and now there are other places to share, that are much easier… like my favourite place to hang out – Instagram... which is pretty much micro blogging, don’t you think?
But it’s November.
And something special happens in the blogging world – something a little crazy to be honest… #NaBloPoMo – bloggers commit to post daily all month long – SERIOUSLY?!
My friend Andrea brought this to my attention years ago… she’s totally committed to this practice and it’s always a joy to read more from her. Then another good friend Karen, simplified things back in 2013 by suggesting posting a daily photo on your blog would be a doable challenge #NaPhoPoMo (National Photo Posting Month).
So I gave it a go… and earlier this week I enjoyed looking back at those November 2013 posts and I’m inspired to try again as so many stories have been preserved.
Daily posting – GULP!.
I’m going to jump right in and give it a go. (There are people daily vlogging – so this should be possible, right?)
Beside, I’ve got plenty of archive photos and video clips from this year… I really enjoyed that aspect in 2013 – a chance to share some content that never got to shine. Plus other posts that have been rattling around in my head or jotted down in notes here and there… it will be good to release those ramblings.
It will be a challenge but I LOVE a project and I can make (and break) the rules. If it doesn’t happen everyday… it’s cool, no pressure – life happens and the inbox should take priority (maybe?). But I’m all in to try.
Quick email to Karen, Andrea, Jeanine & Kim – they’re doing it too. It’s good to have company… so please feel free to join in (with the madness) – let’s shower November with plenty of blog posts… Let me know if you do, so I can pop by and say hi.
Day one – done. Phew!
