22 Nov WE’RE GOING TO NEW YORK!
Dreaming BIG and working to make things happen has really changed my life since going to camp.
One of my biggest dreams has been to make it to New York…
So when I see a competition back in September on this fabulous photographer’s blog back in Sept, where the prize is a family trip to New York and all have to do is enter a family portrait (I’d just taken this family portrait) I thought why not?
So I enter that shot and then promptly forgot about it, thinking nobody actually ever wins these things…. (oh how wrong you are dear Xanthe…)
As it happens you were supposed to get people to vote for your photo, I didn’t… as I forgot that part and never actually read the rules…. So the 100 most voted for shots were chosen to go in front of judging panel, including the wonderful Julia and they then choose 10 photos to be chosen by Steve McCurry, because the reason the trip is to New York is because Steve is going to photograph the chosen family.
And he chose us…. in this shot.
These kinda things never happen to me but…… We’re going to NEW YORK at the end of Dec for New Year’s Eve, hooray!!!! And we’ll be photographed by the incredible Steve McCurry who has photographed families all over the world.
This just goes to show…. dreams can come true…. there are real winners to these competitions, and it’s so worth entering…. coz you just never know…
