05 Feb MEMORY POSTCARDS – A TIME CAPSULE FILM OF 2018
I made a lot of films in 2018…
Each weekend there was a Mini Monday Movie… and films about riding my bike for 30 days and then 100 days… Quite a few Week In The Life daily films and 30 days in June. The annual tradition of A summer film… and a bonus birthday film… Various trips to Cartmel :: Italy :: Turkey :: France :: Greece and lots more, including all the work I do creating stop motions and video content for brands.
This is my last offering for 2018… (finally catching up!)
It’s an end of year compilation and follows my Memory Postcards idea of using just one second clips. They are mini memories… like a moving postcard to take me back to that moment in 2018. It’s mostly a collection of selfies and random footage, that would’ve been left to fade in “the cloud” or on a hard drive, but here they are… ready to shine and evoke the feelings of our year – our faces, places, smiles and good times.
It’s all about the FEELINGS. That’s why I started making Time Capsule films all those years ago… each clip, each film can transport me back to that moment, memory and feeling. I love them!
In this 2018 film, most of the clips were shot on the iPhone and compact camera, so they’re not dreamy, beautiful, crisp snippets that I would’ve preferred from my DSLR… but these are moments grabbed on the go with whatever is in my hand at the moment. My creative eye wishes that the clips were bright, bold and full of bokeh, but I know in my heart it’s all about the memories! and not the aesthetic… better to use what I’ve got, than create nothing at all.
Of course I love to compare the previous years films…. here’s 2017 –
And 2016
And 2015 (were the boys ever this little??!!)
So much joy and such precious memories! So very grateful…
Looking forward to capturing all the things in 2019!
