I LOVE SOUNDSTRIPE – MUSIC SUBSCRIPTION

I LOVE SOUNDSTRIPE – MUSIC SUBSCRIPTION

Finding music for my films is the hardest part of the process.

That’s because it’s the one thing that I can’t control.

I can shoot and edit my films but unfortunately I can’t make music. It’s such an important part of my films… helping with the pace and flow of the footage and adding another layer of emotion.

Over the years I’ve searched many online music libraries and discovered lots of great places. But I never found a consistent source to fuel my music needs.

So when I discovered Soundstripe at the end of last year, I thought it was too good to be true. Here was a place where you paid a reasonable monthly subscription and you could download as many tracks as you like… Seriously? would the music be any good?

As it happens, a quick browse of the Soundstripe library revealed some great tracks and the first track was free back then… what did I have to lose?

It wasn’t long till I signed up for monthly subscription. I thought, even if I only downloaded one track a month, it’s still better value than some of the other places I’d been purchasing music. But as it happens, I’ve used their music all year – for all my weekend films, some stop motions and various other projects. I genuinely love this service!

So I was totally thrilled when Soundstripe asked to interview me as part of a new ‘film maker’ series on their YouTube channel. It was great chatting about what I love to do. I hope you enjoy the conversation… even if I can’t keep my hands still!! (cringe!)

I thought I’d share a playlist of some of my favourite songs on Soundstripe, as I often get asked about which songs I like and use – the list is HERE and I’ll continue to add to it as I download more tracks.

Also, I always credit the track on my Vimeo and YouTube uploads, if you’re interested in a particular song.

Do let me know if you’ve got any more questions or if you have any song recommendations from Soundstripe – I love discovering new artists!

Full disclosure… I pay for my monthly subscription and I offer affiliate links and sign up codes for my students and my followers on Instagram and can earn a little bit of money when someone signs up. This blogpost was created to share the interview and to share my genuine love for this service.

I too love Soundstripe but a have noticed they’ve stopped offering the service where you can email them your project and they come up with a playlist for you. Also I wish you could search by either ‘popular tracks’ within a genre or sounds like a certain artist – like songs that sound like Bob Dylan for example?!
