THE HIGHLINE

THE HIGHLINE

The most recommended place by friends to visit in New York, besides the usual…. Empire State building, Statue of Liberty, etc, was the Highline near the West Village. As soon as we got there, I could see why this was such a great destination. This disused rail line has been transformed into “a park” along the walkway, full of visual delights, plants and the most brilliant glass paneled bridge across the streaming New York traffic. We were there on a chilly but gloriously sunny day, and the boys were in their element, jumping and running around.

It really was a highlight of our trip and here’s my story of our time there.

Thanks for sharing Xanthe. As it happens, my husband and I watched the new documentary Urbanized yesterday and one of its features is the Highline. We rented it from iTunes as it was nowhere else to be found on the net. Watch it if you can, it is pretty great! http://urbanizedfilm.com/

    love witnessing what you love.

so funny — I’d never heard of the highline until just before the holidays — then tara witney had a shoot there while visiting and I found it on another photographer’s site too. it looks like a dream location! hope to see it in person someday.
