50 PLACES – COLUMBIA ROAD FLOWER MARKET

50 PLACES – COLUMBIA ROAD FLOWER MARKET

Sundays are a delight when you can visit Columbia Road Flower Market and this trip was particularly sweet because I haven’t been here since early 2020. I’ve written about Columbia Road before in this post, but I’ve decided to add this particular trip to my 50 places before 50 project. Having been in lockdown for well over a year now… I’ve hardly visited anywhere and I’m never going to reach 50 places before I turn 50 at this rate. So I’ll keep adding to the 50, even with places that I’ve been to before.

We had such a special time on this morning. Pure joy at experiencing something that felt our old life. I was there with my sister to celebrate her birthday and it’s peony season! What’s more joyful than the fleeting beauty of these blooms. The market has changed since Covid, it extends further along the road and all the stalls are on just one side of the road, so there is much more space for people to move around. Plus, there is easy access to the shops, making the whole experience a lot nicer to be honest. I’ve always been a big fan of going early when it’s quieter anyway, so I still recommend that, as you will have to queue to get in if you go at peak times.

We left there smiling SO big… with armfuls of prettiness and peonies aplenty! One of the best times I’ve had this year so far.

Let’s hope the rest of the year offers me a chance to catch up with my 50 places before 50 project.

50 PLACES BEFORE 50

My long term project is “50 places before 50”.

Visiting 50 “places” before I turn 50… a city, a town, a restaurant, a country, hotel, a park, etc. Wherever or whatever – it’s about organising and/or making “50 experiences” happen regularly before I turn 50.
