38

I don’t normally do new year resolutions, it’s such a difficult time of year to make change and I’ve only recently started doing the one word project.

So yesterday I turned 38 and it’s kinda crazy that I decided to do the birthday list thingy. I’ve always admired those who set their intentions, write a list and spend the year trying to make them happen.

This list contains achievable things (and some things already in the works) and items which may take longer than this year to make happen. That’s ok. It’s pretty brave for me to even write some of these down, so I don’t mind if some take longer.

My 38 things –

  1. Sleep in and own a Bell tent
  2. Help Luke do what he loves
  3. Be debt free (not the mortgage coz that would be ridiculous)
  4. Finally own a sofa we have chosen ourselves
  5. Our boys to flourish in a school we choose
  6. To carry on believing
  7. To stay at an ace hotel
  8. Grow sweet peas
  9. To be in a real published book that you hold in your hands
  10. To meet and have a cup of tea with Brene Brown
  11. Collaborate, Gather, and Collaborate some more
  12. Keep growing my business organically
  13. To have painted nails everyday
  14. De-clutter (not sure this is even possible)
  15. Laugh till I cry
  16. To be in love with all my boys more and more everyday
  17. To live in full technicolor (I love it) – wear it, photograph it… surround myself in colour.
  18. To travel to new places and visit NYC again
  19. To visit our old home in Thailand
  20. Make the ideas in my head come true
  21. Wear more sparkles
  22. Teach my ecourse live in person (scary but I think it feels right)
  23. Upgrade my camera… I can dream of the 5Dmark3 or even the Nikon D800, right?
  24. Have more days out in London
  25. Camp lots (maybe even have our own wood one day)
  26. Own another Lyric bag (or two!)
  27. Bask in the joy of evening picnics
  28. Buy a new winter coat preferably a bright colour and certainly not a “mum” coat
  29. Get back into making my visual diaries
  30. Wear more Bando and other pretty accessories
  31. Have regular massages (especially by Kim)
  32. Not cry everyday when our boys go away this summer
  33. Make breakfast in bed, at the weekends, a tradition
  34. Shoot film or at least ttv
  35. Move house
  36. Follow my heart & Trust the process
  37. Own a bicycle to ride with my family
  38. Stay healthy, be happy and appreciate the little things

{There really is power in writing things down… I NEVER believed this before, but now I know it to be true}

What’s on your list??

[…] I honor of this grand occasion, I’ve decided to take a cue from Xanthe. She’s a photographer in the UK.  I discovered her blog and photography through the Shutter Sisters blog.  On the 38th anniversary of her birth, Xanthe posted a list of things she like to do or accomplish in her 38th year – a.k.a her Birthday List. […]

This is a wonderful list. I did a 100 item Life List when I started the blog in 2010 but this reminds me that it’s time for a refresh. Though staying at an Ace Hotel will stay on! Happily it’ll come true for both of us this year! xo

Great list. I’m in the process of revamping mine … It is so empowering to write it down, but I often stress out (like Mary said) making sure that I don’t forget anything.

I’m trying harder to just write down things I want to do, as I think of them!!
