During my time at Squam In The City I was blessed to hang out with some amazing ladies… in my workshops and in the evenings when we chased the golden light…

My workshops were about seeking out and photographing colour – I’ll share some images from those soon, but I also wanted to give people a chance to shoot portraits in front of the colourful backgrounds we found.

So we just played… with colour and with the light when it showed up.

Here are a few of my favourite images… Thank you gorgeous ladies for stepping in front of my lens.

My ‘Women I Know’ series took a little bit of a back seat in the latter part of this year. It’s a project I really adore, so I will pick it up next year and use it as a way of experimenting with my portrait photography.

As it happens I have photographed some fabulous ladies over the past 6 months… Very talented women all cooking up a storm in this online world.

Susannah – photographing & writing about her life and inspiring others to unravel their stories, blog from their hearts or take photos and journal.

You must check out her Unravelling The Year Ahead workbook – feel the magic of writing your intentions down.

Tamarisk - an effervescent lady, full of smiles and happiness has just transformed her website and is offering help to transform your feelings.

Kat Goldin & Kat Molesworth cultivated a friendship online through blogging. Alongside running their own successful endeavours, they are now taking their love of connecting online into real life with a brand new blogging conference – Blogtactular! which looks set to be THE event in London next year.

This is the luminous Jeanine… she’s magic…

Her Women I Know session had to be split into two parts… two different stories, too many photos to share at once… Part one is here…

We found a pocket of long awaited sun that afternoon…and just played, soaking it up…

Thank you Jeanine for being part of this portrait series…

{It seems I do love a scarf photo session…}

Jeanine is one cool chick… photographer, writer, music lover and adventurer of the world. Her love story – the ups and downs of trans-atlantic romance is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever heard.

We had a play date with our cameras… and this is part one for my Women I Know series.

How grateful I am that the online connections I’ve made, transfer so beautifully into real life ones, I know most people say that but it’s so true.

Leonie is one such lady. Full of creative sprit, full of adventures I can only dream of doing, full of stories and support. And total joy.

Last week I tagged along on her brilliant (wish I’d thought of it) project, to travel to the ends of the tube line here in London.

I’ll share more of my adventure with her in an another post… but for now… these are the portraits we created… for my Women I Know series.

And then of course… we had playtime, and GIFs were conceived… they vaguely transfer what I see in my head, which is often movement rather than a static image… I love how Leonie added her own little spark by making faces instead of taking it seriously…

If they make you smile, then the job is done, creativity isn’t all about serious ART, it’s about reflecting people as they really are… and that’s why these are very much Leonie.

This is my lovely sister Boo, who I’m sure will appear again in this Women I Know series, as we have many ideas of shoots to do and we will find the time to do them, at some point… won’t we?

These were taken as part of my 12.12.12 film. There were just test shots, as I set the camera up but I love the muted tones and how still & peaceful she looks against the moody background.

Sas has an amazing approach to life, I always take away some nugget of goodness when I see her… It’s no wonder she’s on this new path of coaching, as she has a way of encouraging you to believe anything is possible. Thank you.

The opportunity to photograph her came out of my Women I Know series… Sas suggested taking part, giving herself the gift of being photographed, even though the experience seemed daunting. It was towards the end of the session, after we’d shot some photos needed for her about page, and the nerves lifted, that I feel I captured the essence of Sas.

The details are her… tattoo, red hair, feathers, freckles, the accessories, but more than that… it’s the ease and the comfort she has with herself at this stage in her life… I feel it shines through.

Sas’ new site launched this week… it’s totally beautiful… There are wonderful offerings… the Body Stories is brilliant and I love the bear manifesto myself!

Myriam is one of the those Women I Know that I can’t believe how honoured I am to have in my life. She has a way of talking to you that makes you believe anything is possible, I kinda wish she could live in my pocket and whisper sweet messages of beauty daily. Myriam played a huge part in making Oasis as magical as it was, her vision and love filtered through it all.

I will always associate this poem with Myriam… it seemed only fitting to share it here with her images. Thank you for encouraging us all to feast on our lives.

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

So Five Fact Friday is getting a little face-lift and small re-launch today… there are some regular participants, and the community we’re creating is lovely. Recently, I’ve evolved away from “5 facts” to “5 of anything” so has Kim… so it’s now 5 on Friday… and you can play with it however you choose and then go link up over at Reflection Of You…

It seemed only fitting to share five photos of Kim while we were away and include her in my Women I Know series.

Kim has changed my creative life in so many ways since we met at Camp last year, it was beyond lovely to spend some real time together in California. We really made the most of it and… hung out, laughed, drank diet coke, photographed and embraced so much of the journey together, including giving a talk to all those at Oasis about our process (I think this might be a separate post for another time).

Thank you Kim from the bottom of my heart for all you do.

I’m sure this isn’t Kim’s favourite shot of her, but it is mine. I reminds me so much of our time together at the ACE… every morning the sun would flood into our room, we’d struggle to get up and I’d talk in my American accent about how the day was going to roll and Kim would always laugh at my nonsense – one first class room mate. Can’t wait to do it again.

Have a great weekend x.
