Our boys… my dreamy boys… allowed me the pleasure of capturing them among the forget-me-nots currently covering our garden. Yes, I had to persuade them, maybe even beg them, but all I needed was a FEW minutes… because when the sun is out at the moment, you have to act fast, because it’s doing a rather wonderful disappearing act lately.

I recently used the lensbaby on a maternity session and loved the results, (I’ll share it here soon…) so I wanted to play some more, as I love the dreamy effect.

This is the post I never finished before leaving for New York. This was meant to be a slide show of my favourite photos I’ve taken this year, but you know what, I made the slide show and I actually prefer the images to stand alone. I know I will be concentrating on moving images and putting photos together to tell a story more and more in this coming year, but 2011 was mostly about photos by themselves, so that’s what I will share here and I’ve updated my welcome video instead.

It’s been hard to select just a few from 2011… these photos mean so much to me as they tell the story I see and then like to tell…. the details, the memories, the connections, all with the colours and light that make me gasp as I press the shutter. Capturing these moments has be wonderful, thank you to all those that let me do what I love, I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings…

When I met Alex back in October she was waiting patiently for her first baby Isaac to arrive, during the session we talked babies and labour as Alex was having a home birth….. she was really calm about his imminent arrival.

Last week I got to meet (and have a cuddle with….) the delightful 3 week old Isaac, he was adorable and so relaxed….. mama and baby have a beautiful bond.

I wish them all the happiness together.

I’m over at Shutter Sisters today talking about the Lensbaby walks and showcasing some of the amazing images that were taken on camp.

The adventures with the Lensbaby continues… I’m making new discoveries with a tip from Karen (thank you) and realising good light and a subject that’s prepared to sit still, makes the practice so much easier.

I took these as I was chatting to Lola about life and school, she was sitting so beautifully, as the light was streaming in. It was a real joy to capture.

I’m experiencing a huge learning curve with the Lensbaby. I can see so much opportunity and I’m excited for what I can eventually create with my photography. I’m just struggling at the moment, knowing I just need to practice, practice and then practice some more.

I may regret sharing my first few images here, as I’d like them to be better. Maybe/hopefully I will look back at these, as I start to master it, and realise how far I’ve come.
