The Day In The Life project is one of my favourite Time Capsule films to create… (closely followed by my Scenes From The Weekend films.)

But it’s been a while since I’ve made the mini daily versions - May 2016 & March 2016 & Sept 2015 & May 2015

Last year flew by so quickly… I’d planned to do one week in the autumn, but ended up doing 30 days of films instead.

So here we are in spring 2017 and I knew I needed to get on it!

We are in a different house now and the boys are growing up faster than I can imagine. My work life is so varied from week to week… I’d like this some of this to be documented. But it was finding the energy to get going.

You see, this project takes commitment and extra time.

But I know, I’ve just got to start… because once I’m in the zone of creating… the benefits shine and the momentum of finishing each film keeps me going.

So my week is complete… seven days, seven films full of little snippets from the day. I love them. I love seeing the differences and the similarities to last year and the year before – it’s such a gift. Even though I had to stay up late editing and annoy my family by filming every day… and find different ways of documenting, yet another cup of tea being made.

I think it was worth it.

Now this is over, I can get on with #hurrayforplay!

Perhaps these mini films have inspired you to have a go at creating your own Day In The Life film…

If you’d like any help, inspiration or guidance… consider taking one of my online courses – My MAKE FILMS course starts on May 16th and we spend a whole week dedicated to this project.

All the details are HERE.

All films shot on a mix of Canon 5d4, iPhone 6s and Canon G7x

I’ve been sharing my Time Capsule films online for many years now – mainly through Vimeo and on this blog.

These films are so precious to me – they hold so many memories.

It’s been a journey of constant learning and then passing on my knowledge and inspiring others in my online courses.

Back in February, I started making weekly mini films of my weekend adventures, to share on Instagram.  It came out of my pledge to create films alongside participants taking my year long course. It’s been a big commitment, but a great process.

I LOVE a project!… and this one has given me a chance to experiment with telling my stories in just 15 seconds….

The added bonus is, each week people join in with #minimondaymovies and I’m always so excited for them – as I know these #minitimecapsules of goodness will be treasured in years to come.

As my Bloom Forum Day In The Life workshop is in full swing… I thought another week of daily mini Day In The Life films might be fun!

As it happens, it’s not been a very eventful week… but that’s the challenge – noticing the beauty in everyday things and capturing the details that will change over time. This is a week in my life…

These films are super easy to make, I hope watching them here or on my Instagram feed inspires you to have a try… Go on! you’ll be so pleased you did!

If you’d like a little guidance – I have a short online course sharing everything you need to get started!

MINI TIME CAPSULES is always open for registration and you can get creating right away. Come join in the fun…

Oh before I go… lots of changes have happened over on Instagram recently…

The biggest change is the ability to upload widescreen video clips direct into Instagram – here’s a little walk through if you haven’t had a chance to play yet.

I’m still undecided how I feel about it – watch this space…

Have a great weekend! Why don’t you film some of your adventures?…

All the films were shot on Canon EOS 5DIII & iPhone 5s.

Sometimes you just need a quiet day at home to recharge.

During the last month, my weekends have been packed with work and birthday celebrations. I was feeling so tired. So when the sun shone on Saturday and the boys were in & out with their own social lives, I lazed in the garden and daydreamed… gazing at the leaves and the flowers dancing in the wind.

Just what I needed before the crazy couple of weeks ahead.

It’s end of term for the boys and end of an era, as primary school is over for us….

Plus an exciting project to launch – stay tuned!

If you’d like to try to create your own Time Capsule films – either a mini one for Instagram or perhaps longer ones like this one – check out my online courses… all the details are HERE>>>>

If you’ve been following my work for a while now, you’ll know my favourite Time Capsule film to create is the ‘Day In The Life’ film. Having made them for years now, I treasure each one for the story it holds.

Currently my new course is running over at The Bloom Forum and if I can, I like to take part alongside everyone, but I was feeling like approaching this ‘Day In The Life’ project a little differently.

So instead of one longer film on just one day… I thought it would be a good challenge for me to collect snippets of footage each day for a whole week! and create a daily 15 second film to post on Instagram.

Could I capture a real look at life in such a short film?

For the whole week I shot details of my day and in the evening edited it together… even though these films are pretty short – each second is a memory trigger and full of the emotion or events of the day.

I really enjoyed it!

(These films were originally posted on Instagram, but for this blog post they’ve been re-edited to add titles and some additional footage)

Along with so much wonderful support on Instagram, I was also asked lots of questions – so I’m putting together a mini online course sharing how you can create these films too!

All the details for MINI Time Capsules are over HERE. I’m so excited to share how simple, easy and fun these are to make – Head on over as registration opens soon.

All the films were shot on Canon EOS 5DIII & iPhone 5s.

When the first camp of the season is planned… I’m a little reluctant as it’s often quite chilly at night. I’m still scared from a very cold May Bank Holiday camp a few years ago, where we were all woken in the night so cold, with no way of warming up!

We’re better prepared now… Blankets a plenty, thermals, hot water bottles and huddling together.

All the boys are so eager to get the tent out for its first adventure, I get swept up in their excitement and pack my woolly hat and scarves.

As it happens the weather was glorious! Blessed with beautiful sunny days allowing pockets of lazing around… Campfire cooking & a successful mission of making bows and arrows.

Good times… can’t wait for the next camping adventure.

If you’re interested in creating your own Day In The Life films –

Check out my new course over at The Bloom Forum… the course starts in a couple weeks.

I love flowers! (As you probably know already) pretty colours and fragrant blooms… I’ll take them all.

So imagine my joy at spending a whole day capturing such beauty, at Achillea Flowers in London.

This is just a little of the magic they produce each day.

And in honour of pink week for color // colour lovers… a sprinkling of florals to match.
