2013 :: LOOKING BACK PART TWO

with 4 comments

This week I’m looking back through 2013 and all I’ve captured through my camera.

2013 was the year I really wanted to build on my love of film-making. Explore storytelling through film and keep practicing & creating with this medium. So I set myself a challenge as part of my birthday list - #20 – to make a Time Capsule film each month for my family & a film about our summer.

Fortunately, this year took us some incredible adventures, bringing plenty of material to shoot. What’s lovely, as I look back, is the variety of stories I’ve been able to capture. From everyday stuff & the moments from family life to all the colours, sunshine and smiles from our adventures.

What a blessing 2013 has been….

JANUARY – A SELECTION OF RANDOM MOMENTS DURING ONE SATURDAY.

***

FEBRUARY – TO BEAT THE WINTER BLAHS – I SEARCHED AND CREATED COLOUR FOR 30 DAYS.

And I created this archive film.

 ***

MARCH – A ONE MINUTE MEMORY FILM TO CAPTURE THE JOY OF HIS FIRST ZIP CARD.

Plus I completed a new welcome video

***

APRIL – HIGHLIGHTS OF ALL OUR WATER ADVENTURES – ALL SHOT ON THE IPHONE.

***

MAY – ALL THE SIGHTS & COLOURS OF OUR BIG HOPEFUL ADVENTURE.

Plus these additional films telling more stories of our big hopeful adventure – onetwothree

***

JUNE – A PORTRAIT OF ALL THE THINGS OUR ELDEST BOY LIKES TO DO.

***

JULY – ALL THE JOYS OF COOKING WHILE CAMPING ON A SUMMERS EVENING.

I wanted to remember this special day.

***

AUGUST – A STOP-MOTION OF RANDOM MOMENTS DURING A DAY OUT IN LONDON.

***

SEPTEMBER – A STORY OF GOING FISHING WHILE IN CORNWALL.

And this stop motion.

***

A FILM ABOUT OUR SUMMER – ALL MY FAVOURITE MOMENTS.

***

OCTOBER – A COLLECTION OF MOMENTS OF ALL THE “MOVING” & TRAVELLING THROUGHOUT OUR YEAR.

& A STOP-MOTION OF ONE ORDINARY SUNDAY MORNING.

***

NOVEMBER – A COLLECTION OF CONVERSATIONS WITH OUR BOYS.

And this extra film using more footage from our big hopeful adventure.

DECEMBER – Still to come…

***

If watching these films inspires you to want to create your own Time Capsule Films next year… I’m running my online course again in January, where I share all my tips & tricks to shoot and edit your own films in my course - Creating Time Capsules.

All the details are here.

I’ve been looking through your site and watching these videos today. They are so wonderful, full of light and beauty and inspiration. They totally makes me want to compile some of my personal video snippets into something as grand.

I made something similar about happiness a few years back, but the youtube rendering/video quality makes them horrid to watch now after this. :-)

Love everything about your capsules Xanthe, the music included! Thanks for sharing!

i just spent half and hour here, with my little boy captivated, tears down my face. i have not been inspired like this for such a long time. you are magnificent at what you do. magnificent at living really. which is what sings here. this is life, as beautiful as it feels. touched does not cover it…xo
